Waterline Center Replacement

Introducing the Future of EHSSM: The New Waterline Center Building

Shaping the Future Through Education, Heritage, and Community

Embarking on a New Chapter:

We are thrilled to share our ambitious plans for the future of the Waterline Center. Thanks to a generous grant from the Mass Cultural Council, we are now in the conceptual design phase of constructing a brand-new facility. This exciting endeavor will not only allow us to enhance our programming but also enable us to better serve our mission of education, preservation and study, community engagement, environmental stewardship, and the preservation of our shipbuilding culture and heritage.

Unveiling the Vision

The upcoming new Waterline Center is set to become a hub of activity, learning, and cultural exploration. This cutting-edge facility will be designed to expand our educational initiatives, engage with a wider community, and ensure that our maritime heritage continues to thrive well into the future. While we intend to modernize the structure in terms of energy conservation and construction methods, we also aim to respect the historic landscape with a modest and industrial design.

Expanding Education Horizons

Our commitment to education will be amplified in our new center. Picture interactive exhibits that breathe life into history, workshops that ignite creativity, and programs that provide hands-on learning experiences. This enhanced facility will provide the space and resources required to host diverse educational activities, preserving and sharing the lessons of the past with generations to come.

Reaching Every Child

Our goal is to inspire the next generation, and the new Waterline Center will be pivotal in achieving this. With increased capacity, we will have the opportunity to impact more children from our community and beyond. Through innovative educational programs, field trips, and workshops, we aim to nurture curiosity and instill a deep appreciation for our maritime heritage. The new facility will create enduring memories for children while fostering the importance of preserving our cultural and environmental legacy.

Serving Our Mission: Education, Preservation & Study, Community, Environmental Stewardship

At the core of the new Waterline Center will be our unwavering mission. From the preservation and study of historical artifacts to active engagement with our community through enriching events and workshops, our facility will be a hub of cultural exploration and preservation. Additionally, our commitment to environmental stewardship will be reflected in the sustainable design and practices of the new center, inspiring all who visit to take part in safeguarding our natural resources.

Sustaining Shipbuilding Culture and Heritage

Shipbuilding is an integral part of our heritage, weaving together stories of craftsmanship, innovation, and resilience. The new Waterline Center will ensure the continuous flourishing of this essential aspect of our culture. We will celebrate shipbuilding traditions through captivating exhibits and immersive experiences, bridging the gap between our past, present, and the generations to come.
